Looking for Destruction
This video is honestly not all that special. There's no big laugh out loud moment, which gets to be a bit of a letdown after watching a full minute and fifteen seconds of it. You're kind of expecting a big payoff where the kitten jumps on the dog's head, or the dog smacks the kitten across the room. Instead, you just get a lot of barking and staring each other down. Funny for fifteen seconds, not funny for a full minute thereafter. However, I selected it for this week's Thrill to prove the unpredictable and somewhat inexplicable nature of viral videos. This thing's been on the Tube for all of three weeks, and it's already surpassed a million views. True, it's no Charlie the Unicorn, but I'm pretty sure it still counts. It just provides further evidence of the #2 rule in viral videos: your pets are more interesting than you are. The #1 rule, of course, is that you can't go viral on purpose, which is also proven through the story of the Brave Little Kitten that's sixty seconds longer than it needs to be.
