Sith Inquisition: Races of the Inquisitors

Greetings Sithizens,

I am Inquisitor Korrem and I have been tasked with providing you with more information on how to improve your experience in ‘Star Wars: The Old Republic’, especially your experience as members of the glorious Sith Empire. Over the next few weeks I will be highlighting some important cultural points of playing each of the races as it pertains to each class of the Sith Empire. This week, we start with the mighty Sith Inquisitor. Sith Inquisitors are Dark Side incarnate. They are conduits of the force and wield such power as to fry a being with lightning made of pure force energy. Inquisitors can specialize in being sorcerers, true masters of wielding the force, or assassins, stalkers in the dark and the true nightmare of beings across this universe.

Humans are the most populous members of the universe. With such a large population, views and beliefs vary as widely as the species does. Many humans on Imperial worlds see becoming Sith as a great honor, and becoming an Inquisitor the highest of all honors. Human Inquisitors are most marked for their raw, cold brutality. While anger and hatred are the true fonts of power for a Sith, humans have an uncanny nack for being cold, calculating, and unfeeling. To cross the streams, imagine a Vulcan with the power of the Dark Side behind them. No emotion. No attachment. Just power.

The Zabrak originally hail from the mid-Rim world of Iridonia, a world harsher than Tatooine or Ryloth, and are one of the first interstellar species in the galaxy. Crowned with vestigial horns and tattoos, they are a fearsome sight to behold, especially in the shadows when an Assassin of the Empire has you marked in their sights. Many of the Zabrak who are recruited to be Sith are Nightbrothers from Dathomir. Nightbrothers train, and mate, with the native population of witches to become powerful conduits of the Dark Side of the Force. Zabrak, as a race, have shared cultural ethnicities of surviving in the worst conditions possible. This comes from their origins, and has driven them to a life as harsh and brutal as their racial home world.

Rattataki come from a world of war. The planet of Rattatak is constantly steeped in conflict between the natives and the countless mercenaries who have come to call the world home. Gladiatorial games are the center of the justice system, such as there is on the planet and the people there a trained with a “Kill or Be Killed” mentality. This mentality is prized by the Sith, who believe only the strong should survive, especially in the Inquisitors, the leaders of the Sith. A Rattataki Inquisitor would have no qualms being judge, jury, and executioner to those who displease them.

Twi’leks are most noted for their sensuality and criminality. Twi’lek women are prized for their raw natural beauty and commonly traded as slaves, even by their own people. Twi’leks come from the planet Ryloth, a planet which does not spin as it orbits. With such elements acting on the natives, the harshness of the Bright Lands (the sun side of the planet) and the perpetual darkness of the Nightlands, Inquisitors are naturally born. Sorcerers from the Bright Lands are known for the sheer brutality of their willingness to use the Force, bred from the harshness of the sun baking their homes. Assassins from the Nightlands know the darkness like it is a second skin, both the darkness of the world and universe, and the darkness of their souls.

The final race to choose from is the Sith Pureblood. The Purebloods are beings from Korriban, the home world to the Sith. Their entire culture and society revolves around the Dark Side of the Force. A Pureblood Inquisitor belongs to one of two castes, the Massassi Warriors or Kissai Priests. The priests are sorcerers and masters of the society while the Massassi act as their enforcers and soldiers. Kissai lack the brawn of their Massassi cousins, there are no parallels for their skills with the force.

Respectfully,

KORREM
